'Boaties' will launch from the Ferry Street boat ramp in Macksville at 10am and head downstream towards Nambucca Heads for a day on the water, later returning upstream.
These classic boats will be on display from 8am for all boat lovers to take a look and chat with owners. Then at 10am, locals are encouraged to head to the river bank to watch the spectacle of sight and sound as the speedboats take off.
This boating group is the labour of love created by Laurieton residents Narelle and Jeff Reardon.
It began with a Facebook page, which Jeff and Narelle started last September to offer what they were having trouble finding from other speedboat groups in the region.
"We wanted to share our passion for classic speedboats with other like-minded boaties and go on runs up and down the many fabulous rivers we are blessed with on the mid and north coasts... just for fun," Narelle said.
The group has grown to more than 700 members in the past 12 months, from all over the eastern states and some from overseas.
"The fun runs are held nearly every month on a different river, which gives boaties from all over, the chance to join in," Narelle said.
"We are not specific with boat types or age, just that it's 'not modern' and that it's loved!
"Boats in our group range from tinnies to half cabs and everything in between, inboard and outboard."
Boaties start arriving at a nominated launch ramp from 8am and blast off around 10am, and are usually on the water for two to three hours travelling up and down before returning to the ramp for lunch and more social time.
"We welcome new members, just turn up on the day with your classic boat, and know your waterway rules."
