These are at Grassy Park (already closed for 24 months) and McKay Park (located in a flood zone and no longer compliant with building standards).
In the tabled report it was noted that all submissions were generally against the closure or reduction of service, however it was pointed out that "it was no longer good enough for a location aspiring to attract visitors to present old, tired and poorly maintained amenities".
This was also borne out in the community survey results that showed while public amenities continue to be of high importance, satisfaction continued to be low.
The frequency of cleaning of the amenities that remain (22) will continue (for most it is daily) with savings from the closures (due to reduced maintenance, cleaning and vandalism) redirected to upgrades of other public amenities.
Twelve amenities throughout the shire have already either been refurbished or re-constructed in the recent past.
The council formally thanked the Nambucca Heads Lions Club, who advised they will continue cleaning the public barbeque facilities at Stuart Island.
