THE LONG lingering drought could have had a dampening effect on attendance at the 2019 Rusty Iron Rally at Macksville - but the punters just kept on flooding through the gates.
With the showground bursting at the seams with vintage cars, tractors, trucks, motorcycles and machinery - Rodeo Dr outside resembled a slow moving carpark as people sought a spot.
Truth be told, long-timer Butch Laverty who was on the northern gate was scratching his head about the roll-up, figuring it was among the best for a Saturday morning in memory.
Inside the main ring and at the adjacent stalls and food trucks, it was wall to wall people.
Watch it, hear it:
The Rally continues into today and through tomorrow, when at 11am they'll have a go at an another record - the Australian mark for the most engines running at the same time for 10 minutes.
The two-day extravaganza of noise and diesel fumes is put on by the Mid North Coast Machinery Restoration Club - and the beneficiary this year will be StandBy, Support After Suicide.
