Described as the emerging heir to the title of 'poet to the people', musician Jimmy Dowling's enigmatic story telling through song is both charismatic and simple. Just an "acoustic guitar, a batch of witty stories and a striking voice", music critic Martin Jones writes.
Dowling lays gentle acoustic guitar harmonies behind his raw poetic tone to set an authentic scene that engages his listeners' attention with emotive words to paint the image of his stories.
There's a nostalgic empathy and visceral reflection of the everyday, and of the every-man in his work, gaining him titles such as the "modern day Dickensian folk blues artist", as described by his friend, blues musician and ARIA award-winner Matt Walker.
Australian songwriter, singer, slide guitarist and ARIA award-winner Jeff Lang described Dowling has having "a lot of stories to tell and he tells them his own way - with strong words and a steady hand."

A fast, finger-picking folk blues troubadour, independent artist Jez Mead has toured the country playing the festival circuit and supporting the likes of Midnight Oil, Angus and Julia Stone and the Waifs.
He offers an energetic essence to his live performances as he takes his audience on a musical journey through a landscape of sound with a distinct Australian style and sense of place.
From driving foot stomping rhythms to gentle atmospheric songs Jez Mead's music evokes a feeling of life on the road.
Mead is joined on stage by the Raggabones, with Paul Brewer on bass guitar and Chris Jones on percussion, the pair are the remnants of popular Byron Bay band Boneyard, which folded a few years back.
A young local musician, yet to be announced, will warm up the audience in anticipation for Dowling and Mead at the Crescent Head Hall gig.
Experience the authentic soul-crafted sounds of these talented musicians when they perform locally in September.
