Coffs take another over the line just before the tenth minute. The Comets seem buoyed by this home ground support right now. Jade Egar converts her own try taking the lead to 10. Macksville yet to score.
Another Coffs breakaway down the sidelines is chased down by the Sea Eagles. They need to break this momentum.
You can feel the tension as the sides go penalty for penalty.
A very quick try scored by Coffs Harbour's Xanthi Hand, a Nambucca Valley girl. Conversion goes through, taking the score to 16-0.
Quick reflexes by Macksville's Wulaaran Walker stop another Coffs breakaway on the fifth.
Kirstie Pedrola stretches to save another breakaway from Coffs.
A fumbled ball from the Comets gives Macksville their first chance of the game so far.
They're passing it long...too long. It's on the ground and back to Coffs.
Sea Eagle Angie Greenshields finds a space and charges through but is brought down after 20 metres.
A mistake by Macksville sees the ball in Comet hands again, and they hurtle down the field to score again. A missed conversion means the score is 20-0.
And there's the half time siren.
At this stage the Comets are showing greater skill in moving the ball around, with our girls' play stuck in the centre of the field.
Macksville need to make some more opportunities for themselves if they want to stay in this.
And here's the second half...
Macksville kicks on the fifth and it's missed by the Comets. Coach/captain Relle Donovan streams through to pick it up and fly it over the line. Macksville is on the scoreboard!
Kirstie Pedrola, leading point-scorer of the season, converts, taking the score to 20-6.
A Macksville fumble means the ball is in dangerous hands once again.
But the Sea Eagles defence has shored up in the break. They know they can't let any more through.
Macksville is trying to make use of the sides of the field now.
Another Comets set. And the Coffs girls just seem to be effortlessly floating the ball around. Some long passes across the field sees another try for the Comets in the corner. No conversion, score is 24-6.
Slippery Comet fingers mean Macksville has a chance from 20 metres out.
A grubber by Relle Donovan has the ball through and a flock of Sea Eagles descend - and they're over! Macksville get their second try with another beautiful conversion by Kirstie Pedrola. 24-12.
Macksville is still in this. But they're playing from an unusual position. They usually come out strong. They're not used to coming from behind.
Comets are holding possession.
And it's another try in the corner for Coffs Harbour. It seems like it may be a done deal at this point. No conversion but the scoreboard now reads 28-12.
A last minute breakaway by Macksville causes the Comets to scramble.
Comets are pulled up for being off-side and a scuffle breaks out.
Wulaaran Walker runs it through for a try. Converted. 28-18.
But that's full time and it's all over for the ladies.
What a huge season this team has had!
With only three wins to their name after their first two seasons, the Macksville women have blown all expectations out of the water.
From wooden spooners to minor premiers, the Sea Eagles have a lot to be proud of already.
But one more win today could be the cherry on top of a dream 2019 run.
In their last match against the Comets on their home turf, the first half was an even battle, with scores locked at 10 apiece.
"Coffs Harbour's always hard to beat on home ground," coach/captain Relle Donovan said.
But the talent of Wulaaran Walker - the youngest woman in Group 2 and the highest point-scorer at the end of competition rounds - and Paige Ussher-Kinnear - the game-winning try scorer in their major semifinals - got them over the line.
The Comets have momentum behind them after thrashing the Rebels in the minor semifinals and owning Sawtell in last weekend's finals - a side that our girls only just beat in overtime during the major semifinals.
Today should be a fiercely-fought match, and with finals energy surging through the veins, anything could happen.
Swoop, Sea Eagles!
