Daffodil Day is springing up fast. This year's event is scheduled for next Friday, August 23. And this time there's even more of a reason to get on board with painting the town yellow.

The Roberts Nambucca Real Estate team have said this year could possibly be their last big campaign.
After the Cancer Council decided in 2017 to begin winding back their merchandise, this Daffodil Day will be the last time that loyal supporters can adopt Dougal the Bear.
"We found that with production, transport, and storage, it was actually costing us more money to have the Daffodil Day merchandise each year than we were getting back," a Cancer Council spokesperson said.
"And while we know some of our businesses and groups that host events really rely on that merchandise, overall we were seeing a lot of items returned - ones that were not able to be resold in the following years.
"In order to maximise funding for our services for cancer patients, the decision was made to transition to fundraising activities that minimise waste and focus more on fresh-cut flowers, bake-offs, and activities that include in-kind services etc."
Unfortunately, the Nambucca Valley was one of those communities which really rallied around the bear, and the daffodil pins, with Roberts' Adam Jones saying a fair chunk of the funds the team raised each year were off the back of the merchandise.

He said they will still continue to fundraise in some capacity, but this year could possibly be the last big hurrah with the 500s Club, all-day sausage sizzle and mega raffle.
There have already been some very generous donations from local businesses for the 'raffle that stops the street'.
Trisleys have again outdone themselves with an ultra high definition 50-inch smart tv, Beatties has donated a chic leather bucket chair, Nambucca Blinds and Awnings have got your weekend covered with bottles of bubbly, and the Commonwealth Bank and Nambucca RSL have been generous with their offerings too.
But there's still room for more prizes, and the Roberts team would love for local businesses to open up their hearts over the next week to make this the biggest Daffodil Day yet.
There are also plenty of spaces left on the 500s club board.
The team will be madly manning the sausage sizzle next Friday from early in the morning until the afternoon, and there'll be plenty of yellow blooms for sale do brighten up your day.
And there are still a dozen or so little Dougals waiting for their furever homes.
