There are four terms of eight weeks per year with third term starting on July 30. Classes are $120 per term or $20 casual. Beginners to advanced.
Art teacher David Southgate has a wealth of experience in various traditional painting mediums. This coming term he will focus on landscapes and seascapes.
Students will be shown how the techniques for painting with oils and acrylics are essentially the same and how those with little or no experience can use either as an entry into the painting process.
For those interested in pastels, they will be included to produce similar effects using the same principals.
More experienced artists can add to their existing skills and build on their understanding of tone, form, colour and composition. During the term students will learn about layering and mixing colours to capture the effects of light and achieve a lively outcome.
Art materials will be available for trial for beginners after which David will supply a list of items to buy. If you have painted in any of the mediums before, bring along your materials and a previous work.
Before attending a class you will need to join the Nambucca Valley Arts Council for a fee of $20. Membership forms are available in the Stringer Gallery in the NCAC building or online at www.nambcucca.com.au/arts.
