"I saw the tail end disappear inside, and a guy was standing outside with a big stick, he asked if I was afraid of snakes, which I am," she said.
"I have a great fear of them, I didn't want to get anywhere near the car after that."
What followed was a battle between man and serpent as a fearless Wires volunteer tried to coax the beast out of the vehicle. Jodi kept a safe distance, while her friend Frankie Vellozzi went in for a closer look.
"It took about two hours to get it out, the snake wrapped itself around the manifold, and every time the Wires guy tried to get her out, she constricted tighter," he said.
"He tried everything; the snake just didn't want to leave, she started hissing, and getting really riled up towards the end, she wasn't happy.
"As a final solution, the Wires volunteer suggested driving home with the snake still inside, and let her come out when she was ready, but Jodi was having none of that."
"There was no way I was driving home with the snake in my car; you could see its head in the gap between the door," Jodi said.
"I'm terrified of snakes; I couldn't even get near the car, I'm still a little wary, even now. So if anyone out there wants to get me a new car, they can."
Luckily, driving home with the extra passenger proved unnecessary, a last effort from the tireless Wires volunteer saw the reptile leave the vehicle and safely contained.
"The snake was released nearby; hopefully she doesn't decide to come back for another visit with her friends," Frankie said.
While this was the first time they've encountered a snake in a car, this isn't the first time Frankie and Jodi have seen snakes in the area.
"I had a snake on top of my chicken coop once, and I didn't want to get anywhere near that one either. It's funny now that it is over, but at the time it was terrifying," Jodi said.
"A few months ago, I saw a snake trying to eat a bird on the roof; they don't bother me too much; if it were a spider, I'd be dead," Frankie said.
