It was a crackerjack day yesterday for the 43rd Ken Howard Bowls tournament, the sun was shining, and all the usual larrikins were making their presence known.
Well known character Chucky was back for another year, and this time he had 25 shirts for all his disciples.
"I only met him on Thursday, but I got a shirt," Nambucca local Shaun Smith said.
Shaun was fresh off his first win in the Roberts Real Estate triples along with Bill Coughlan and Chris Brownlie.
"It's my first bowling tournament win, it has been a pretty good couple of days," he said.
Joining the disciples were plenty of other colourful shirts representing the different teams.
Regular participant and skipper Sam Hakanovich was back for another year, it's been 38 years now, and the 77-year-old concreter is still coming back for more.
"The first time I played was because another player pulled out, and they asked me if I wanted to fill in, I thought why not, and I've been here ever since, 38 years now. There are good people here," he said.
