It was standing room only as dozens of people packed into the Library to listen to the keen young authors read out their books. Special guests Annie Seaton, a local writer and published author, and Mayor Rhonda Hoban were also in attendance to show their support for the next generation of authors.
"I'm very amazed, and impressed at the quality of the work done by the students, congratulations to all of you," Cr Hoban said.
"It doesn't matter how old you are; you can still learn from books. Books can be a lot of fun, even if someone else reads it to you."
Due to the success of the writing program, Nambucca Heads Primary School now has a dedicated writing room; and since last year the teacher overseeing the program, Ms Amijee has been busy implementing this next stage.
"It has become bigger than Ben-Hur, students will now be producing books year round," she said.
"The response has been great, the children come in with notes from home, and many will visit the library and research their topics before writing about them.
"We are also really excited to have the partnership with the Nambucca Heads Library, who will stock copies of the books here and in the Macksville library as well."

Senior Librarian Wes McQuillan was a key organiser for the launch and is eager to continue helping promote reading and writing in the valley.
"The book launch was an excellent way to promote literacy and get children excited about reading and writing; the school has come up with a really good concept," he said.
"After today these books are available in the library and will be in our online catalogue, just like all our other books.
"With the grant from the NSW government, we will be looking to expand the library facilities, which judging from the enthusiasm shown here today, we will need the extra room to stock all the books from the students."
Book topics included Earth, animals, Ancient Egypt, and more specialised subjects like creative stories and a comic book.
