Following a successful Roadshow in earlier this month, the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) is inviting Nambucca Valley's not-for-profit community groups to apply for start-up grants to assist them in securing long-term funding and support.

FRRR and the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation (VFFF) launched the program to help not-for-profit community groups build the skills and resources to strengthen both their capacity and capability to help them create a stronger and more vibrant future for their community.

The IRCF Start-Up Grants offer $60,000 to assist groups with foundational projects that will position them to potentially participate in the five-year IRCF program.

Investing in Rural Community Futures program manager, Alli Mudford, said the energy shown by Nambucca Valley community groups at recent Roadshow events inspiring.

"We had a really great turnout across the sessions and we're looking forward to hearing the positive ideas that Nambucca Valley has to cement their future as a thriving community," Ms Mudford said.

"We are encouraging community groups to collaborate and identify ways to work together to maximise the use of these funds ..."

The types of initiatives IRCF Start-Up grants could focus on include investing in:

  • People;
  • Internal infrastructure, systems and structures;
  • Sector efficiencies; and/or
  • Strategy development.

"There is a very mobilised community in Nambucca ready to take action with key challenges around communications, fundraising and revenue planning, utilising and promoting community assets.

"The Nambucca Valley community are very engaged and I'm looking forward to seeing their applications."

Applications close 17 June. Grants will be awarded in September.
