As a curtain-raiser to the Macksville Railway Centenary celebrations in July, this icon of the tracks will be offering nostalgic rides and a unique experience from the 'heyday' of the age of rail.
Built in 1923 the Rainforest Rattler is owned and maintained by Lachlan Valley Railways. Reliable and cheap to operate it remained in service until 1985.
The Macksville - Eungai - Macksville shuttle will run Saturday, June 1 at 8:50am and 11:35am then on Sunday, June 2 at 8:45am.
The Macksville - Raleigh - Macksville shuttles are on Saturday, June 1 at 10am and 12:50pm.
Each shuttle is approximately one hour long and you should arrive 15 minutes before departure. The only place you can board and exit the train will be Macksville Station.
There is disabled access available on the Rainforest Rattler, the carriages have toilets and you are invited to bring along your own food and drink if you wish. Limited group seating can be arranged.
