THE NAMBUCCA lady golfers hosted Sawtell at The Island course to continue their friendly rivalry for this year's Celtic Shield.

The event saw 51 players tee-up in a single stableford round, with the top 10 scores from each club deciding the winner.

Joy Lawrence, Sawtell, won A Grade with 31 points with Lyn Grose runner-up 28. Joy Green won B Grade and overall with 35 points, from grade runner-up Heather Gray 34. Robyn Dyer won C Grade with 33 points, from runner-up Betty Stockham 31.

Joy Lawrence won best Sawtell player and the nearest the pin on the 13th (a sweet win given the prize a tub of pure Scotts Head honey donated by Denise Paluch's bees). Nearest the pins on 5th were Joy Lawrence Div 1, Helen Haynes, Sawtell, Div 2 and Robyn Dyer Div 3. Robin Robertson, Sawtell, won the pro pin on 18. Ball winners went to 26 points.

Next year Sawtell ladies hope to wrest back the shield on their home course.
