Bowraville Central's Agriculture students prepare for the Macksville Show

It might be school holidays but the students at Bowraville Central School are nonetheless busy preparing their show cattle to take to this years Macksville Show.

They will also be submitting their first jar of honey from their brand new beehive in the honey category in the pavilion.

The students have been growing fresh produce to enter as well.

Anticipating this year's show, giant pumpkin seeds were already planted in December in preparation to give that category a go ... however reports are that a school holiday growth spurt is needed (fingers crossed!)

Last year's garlic crop was a huge success, both in size and yield and Cattle Team students will have a stall where they will be selling garlic, honey and tickets to their major fundraiser for the year - a mega raffle, that will be drawn at the second annual Cowboy Bingo Night.

Drop by the stall and show your support for this keen young team of farmers.

The other Agricultural news, Year 8 has entered the flow waggle dance competition and released a video that requires Facebook likes on the school's Facebook page.

Show your support before April 28 for the class to be in the running to win a flow hive beehive: https://bit.ly/2IlJZTN.

The students have put in a great deal of effort to produce this video, which sums up their passion and dedication to education and agriculture.

The Macksville Show is on at the Macksville Showground on May 3 and 4. There is a huge program of entertainment and fun for the entire family, not to mention the chance to display your art, crafts, produce and flowers. Don't miss out.
