There were food scraps, worm farms and compost bins at the Nambucca Valley Family Day Care educator training day on April 6 ... and that was before each service was presented with a sports kit full of activities for children.

The day was part of Nambucca Valley Family Day Care's ongoing commitment to keep our team of educators informed and children engaged in learning about the world around them.
Each service received either a worm farm or compost bin to teach children how recycling food scraps makes valuable fertiliser for their gardens.
A big thank you to Rhiannon Simmonds, from MidWaste, who entertained with her explanations of the benefits and care for the worm farm.
The day just got better with Kerry Smith from Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) presenting the activity sports kits. The kits were made possible through an Innovation Grant and put together by Nigel and Jo-Ann Wilbow of Nambucca Head's Sportfirst.
Nambucca Valley Family Day Care Supervisor Prue Cooper said learning through play and nature was an important part a child's growth and it was great to have the support of other organisations.
