"I've been thinking about what I see as my five clear jobs to help the Youthie keep providing their great community service," Mr Oakeshott said.
"Top of the list is to resolve the tenure of the site. We then need to get decent funding for more than a one or a three-year cycle and explore partnerships with programs like headspace.
"It is also important to find ways to help management with paid youth worker positions and I intend to move mountains to make Toby Frost's We Give Two Hoots program the best on the coast.
"My view on young people is very clear - on my watch, young people matter. They deserve respect, not ridicule from all of us.
"The days of barbed wire around skate-parks is over. I will fight make sure our region has vibrant, youth friendly towns ... because, hey, it keeps us all young if we do."
