In signs that the off-season was spent running on field rather than at the fast food drive-through, the Stingers senior men looked sharp across the paddock, and moved the ball well given it's but early days.
Some of the tackling at the North Macksville field edged toward the willing, though that was more out of enthusiasm to finally get cracking than any ill thoughts. In fact the match was played in good spirits and there was plenty of light-hearted banter between the squads.
But the Stingers had come to play - and send it they did, regularly finding the visitors' strings.
The Nambucca Strikers also enjoyed their final trial matches, heading up the M1 to make acquaintances with Bellingen.
