This area has chronic youth unemployment rates - one of the few banes of living in an otherwise paradise location.
Enter local body Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast (RDAMNC).
This week it stepped up to the plate, launching at the Nambucca Heads RSL Club a new online platform which aims to connect young people, employers and service providers.
Dubbed 'Blueprint for Youth Futures', the fresh digital platform hopes to drive a stake into the youth unemployment rate in this area which is among the highest in the country.
“With rates of unemployment among young people in the Mid North Coast reaching levels higher than 20 per cent, RDAMNC has made one of the focuses of the organisation to help create change in this sector,” chair John O’Neill said.
Blueprint for Youth Futures aims to increase the possibilities for young people looking for careers in the region by providing specific information about job opportunities.
“The platform that our team have developed will help to connect young people directly with employers and services. It puts the young person in charge of their pathway and recommends services that can help.”
Young people can easily join the platform by entering a few basic details and selecting such things as their hobbies and interests. Their answers help build a profile that matches the young person with jobs, services and support.
Employers can benefit from using the platform by posting their vacant positions, as well as being able to view support that is currently available.
Service providers can post events, courses and support that they are offering to employers or youth.
