"I don't know what the record would be, but this has got to be close, I can't think of any sport where two competitors have an age gap like this," President of the Nambucca Squash Committee Bruce Graham said.
"A fair part of the squash world thought it was significant too; it has gained worldwide attention, after input from several high profile players and organisations, people from as far away as France and Kuwait have seen the Facebook post about it, I've gotten emails and messages about this from people all over the world."
The first of the nine-year-old brigade to take on Jim at the courts was Rhys Williams towards the end of 2018. While it is not known who won, Bruce Graham is adamant the scores don't matter for such a special moment.
"It wasn't a matter of who won, it was more about having fun, both matches were spectacular, and the boys played like gentlemen, we encourage that in our juniors," he said.
The second of the boys to take a crack at Jim Law was Jack Noonan as part of the regular competition hosted at the Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club courts.
"We have 3-4 comps a year, and this match between Jim and Jack was part of our regular competition," Graham said.
"As you can imagine, Jack is new to squash, but he comes from a very impressive squash blood-line. On the other hand, Jim was a bit of a late bloomer and has been playing squash for just on 20 years.
"Jim's not as agile as he used to be, but he still runs around that court, I don't know how he does it, he still manages to play 2-4 nights a week, we hope that Jack is as fit as Jim when Jack reaches 85 years of age."
While these matches had the most significant age gap, it is not the first time old has battled young at the Nambucca Island Golf Club courts.
"If you count 65 as old, then yeah, matches like this happen a lot, there is a real spread of ages at the club. Some want to compete, but most just want to come down and have a bash and a laugh," Graham said
"Squash is a sport that is open to a lot of people; we have multiple generations at the club, there are many families, people who have played as teens and come back years later with their own kids.
"It's a physical sport, it's significantly more social as you go down the line though. Most play to have a drink and a laugh, we have 3-4 comps a year on a Wednesday, while there are social games every Thursday. "
