The Valla Beach Family Fishing Club February competition was held last month with the target species set as Flathead. Conditions weren't ideal, and this turned most members away; however, there were still a few avid fishers who came down to participate.

The weigh was held at the lions park in Valla Beach, with support from Roscoes Pools and Spas. There was some good sized fish; Mick Ellem came out on top with four species, sadly there was no flathead.
In the bass section, Luke Clowe beat the crew with his 47cm fish and is now only 2 points behind Dave. Luke and Dave are expected to battle it out to be the winner for the year, unless Dean spoils the party by getting the extra point, which he can achieve by having the biggest Bass in the last three comps.
Kae Gregg was the ladies winner with a bream. The minnows and juniors didn't weigh a fish in. The mystery fish was whiting and now jackpots to $40. The members draw was Rosie Obrien and also jackpots to $40.
The March comp will be held on March 29 to 31, targets will be spotted and Spanish Mackerel, Flathead and Dart.
