2BBB’s iconic little blue outside-broadcast van, ‘Ob1’, will be at Bellingen Park from 5pm, where Deb Spillane and "Googs" Goddard will present the pre-match program commencing with a welcome to His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley, the Governor of NSW.
The on-field action will be called in classic "take-it-up-the-guts" old school style by 2NVR's dynamic duo, 'Dallas and Gravel'. Kick off is 6pm.
This will be the second year in a row the two "rival" community stations have come together to help share with their listeners the big local rugby league game between Bellingen/Dorrigo Magpies and Army Thunder.
Both the pre-match and live match commentary will be available on 2BBB 93.3/107.3FM or 2NVR, 105.9FM.
The annual Sgt Matthew Locke Charity Match is one of the region's biggest, and certainly most meaningful, sporting events. Matthew Locke, Bellingen born and raised, was an Australian soldier who served in the SAS and was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
This will be the 11th year that the local rugby league team have taken on the Army Thunder in a match to celebrate Matthew's life and raise money for a range of charities. In more than a decade the match, and the events around it, have raised in excess of $120,000 for the likes of Legacy, The Grub Club and Soldier On, as well as local organisations.
