LAST Saturday at the Island Golf Club there were 97 starters in a 4 B, B, B with the singles playing in conjunction. 13 visitors took part but made their presence known by taking out the four-ball with 49 points.

Bruce Bouchard (Howlong) and Phillip Cormie (Moss Vale) took the top spot, while the runners up were Neil Duffus and Phil Mander, along with David Bird and Trevor Hopkins. Others to show good form were Lee Fewings and Chris Tinson in a count back with Brendan Graham and Jeff Morrison 44 points.
For members, this was a qualifier for the men’s 4 B.B.B.Knockout. Those members in the running are encouraged to check the golfers' notice board in the club.
In the singles part of the day Barry Quinn (Nudgee) again collected a voucher with a round of 40 points, Matt Allom was next with 38 points and got the better countback from Chris Tinson. Nearest the pins for the round went to Bruce Bouchard at the Ecomist second hole.
Jimmy Barrie took the newsagents 5th hole, while Greg McCoy had the 7th, Chris Tinson took the Subway hole at 8, Steve Frost took out the pro pin and to celebrate took out the pizza at 13 also, Rob Coneybeare took Stu’s ball at 15. Ball rundown went to 41 with W.Mann and Barry Quinn on 41 the last to collect.
Thursday's competition of stableford attracted 84 players. Colin Wormleaton (10) came out on top in A grade with 37 points from Greg Smith (10) 36 points. Chris Thorndike (13) took out B grade with 39 points from Urpo Ylinen (16) 36 points.
For C grade Andrew Johnston (19) a round of 38 from John Hopkins (19) 35 points. Drew Glasson a 36 point round with Greg McCoy and Phil Mander 35 point rounds all giving A grade a shake.
Ball rundown went to 31 with Roy Simms, Bruce Berry, Phil King and Diane Elley all to collect. Pins for the day went to Chris Fogo at 2 Doug Cheetham at 5, Greg McCoy at 7, Drew Glasson the Subway at 8, Kel McGoldrick at 15th and Greg Smith took out the pro pin at 18.
Sunday a group of 32 players hit off for the River Sunday event with Lynda and Warren Fuller taking the win with 43 points from Jenny and Andrew Johnston who came a close second with 40 points. In the ball rundown the sponsor’s for the day were Gillian Anderson and Richard Martin, along with Kaye McGoldrick, Greg Smith, Geoff and Jan Harris, Robyn Jones and Sharlene Purser.
Pins for the day were taken out by Mary Rees at 5, none of the boys found the green, Geoff Harris the 13th pizza hole and Narelle Delaney and Greg Smith won at the 18th.
This Sunday the Island Golf Club will host the Mid North Coast Championships.
