Fire and Rescue NSW Nambucca Heads purchased a Ground Monitor with the funds - a unit that shoots 950 litres of water per minute over distances of more than 50 metres.
“The inclusion of a ground monitor in our inventory will prove to be an invaluable firefighting tool," Deputy Captain Forbes said.
"It means we can free up staff to perform other roles while still being able to put quite significant amounts of water onto a fire.
“Where it used to require one or two firefighters to establish and operate a large hose to get a similar effect, this equipment allows for safer and more flexible firefighting operations.”
VW Spectacular organisers, Donna and Luke Pell, said they were proud to have been able to provide the support and are looking forward to the 2020 event and its flow-on benefits.
