Nambucca Vocational College (NVC) is proud of its latest graduates who completed their Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) under a NSW Government Traineeship program.
All students were mature aged, wanting to start a new career in aged care and keen to contribute to their local community.
During the eight-month course the trainees were employed with NVC Group, one of the Valley's largest aged care and disability providers.
It is a win-win arrangement with students gaining on the job experience and a qualification and NVC getting to know the trainees and their strengths.
In fact NVC Group established Nambucca Vocational College as an enterprise-based Registered Training Organisation to ensure their trainees get the intensive, high quality training needed to develop industry knowledge and hands-on skills.
Nambucca Vocational College Manager, Celeste Howden, said the college was built out of the Valley’s aged care facilities and has kept a strong and collaborative relationship with NVC Group.
“It keeps us grounded in industry needs and current practices,” Ms Howden said.
“We also offer this industry expertise to other employers who want their employees to be trained with a real work focus.”
