The trapping program has been going full steam ahead, so we have plenty of horses for sale. They range from weaners, to mares and with foals at foot, young colts and fillies that are ready to go.
There will be horse handling demonstrations and guest speakers from 10am with horses freshly removed from the park.
In light of the recent aerial cull in Singleton, there will be an update on this year’s horse management program in the Guy Fawkes River National Park (GFRNP).
To ensure aerial culling is not used again here we need the support of the public – without our continued dedication to the trapping and on-selling program it might again be discussed as an option.
Show your support by coming along on January 27 or becoming a member, every name on paper helps.
The canteen will be open all day serving bacon and egg rolls, steak sandwiches and more, and have a look around at the horses and our facilities that we have built up over the years.
This year we also have a number of trade stalls on site, including oysters, honey and honey products, leather work, recycled timber products, homemade reserves.
Our Open Days are not just about selling horses, they are public awareness days, we are trying to raise awareness of the plight of the brumbies living out there in the wild in the National Park where they are considered a feral animal that needs to be removed.
We, on the other hand, consider them to be attractive, versatile, curious and friendly horses that are willing to try anything you put at them and become your lifelong friend at the same time.
We are fully self-funded and run entirely by volunteers, who think they deserve the option.
Gates open at 9.30 am. Entry is $5 and kids under 12 are free, so come and see what the fuss is about and join us for a great day out.
Your presence and canteen purchases will go towards funding our new facilities and continued care of our horses.
Bookings would be appreciated for catering purposes – phone Erica Jessup on 0428 575 342 or Kate Young 0422 198 232 or email guyfawkesheritagehorse@hotmail.com
