Facilitator Rachel Burns said the activities were designed to provide fun and learning whilst using no modern day electrically powered devices.
Happy participants made finger puppets, propeller powered boats, kazoos and paper chains. They also found out how to write with ink and pens made from bird feathers at the Calligraphy table.
Once two activities were completed the children were invited to mark their achievement by striking the brass bell, which used to be at the Nambucca Public School in 1912.
“It’s a joy to see the children discovering not just the old fashioned crafts but also learning about the pioneer life from the exhibits.
“They were particularly enthralled by the bullock dray, which was a common form of transport in the early days of the valley,” Rachel said.
Parents were also invited to participate so it was great family fun.
The Nambucca Headland Museum at Liston Street, Nambucca Heads, is open 2pm to 4pm Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
