Pun aside, that is exactly what Simon and fellow Urunga ‘horsepower’ lover, Ben Bolton, will be doing when they headed to Canberra this week for the Summernats 32 official Guinness World Record bid for a simultaneous burnout – 140 cars will be lining up to burn rubber in the effort.
A new record of 119 cars was set last September as part of Saudi National Day activities but many feel the honour belongs in Australia and now Summernats has set the target to take back the title it took in 2015.
Today is the big day … and you can guarantee it will be very smokey, very smelly and incredibly LOUD.
For 21-year-old Simon, it’s 10 history-making seconds that he can’t wait to be a part of.
“I reckon I will probably spin my wheels to about 200kph … and all that noise, well it’s music to my ears,” he laughed.
Son of Ben and Sue Biggs, Simon was born into a world of cars and mechanics and engines and oily rags.
“I watched all the work going on but then I decided I wanted to be involved. Ben (Bolton) inspired me.
The Urunga boys were chosen from a pool of 500-plus entries. They will proudly take part in the world record attempt in Canberra today.
