Thelma Scott reports – for our last day of bowls we had a muck up day which was a lot of fun. In a game of fours Fiona Medley, Karen Liddell, Judy Walker and Carol Turner defeated Barbara McBride, Joan Hoskings, Gail Griffiths and Janet Poletti. The trophy winner was Janet Poletti.
We had our Christmas lunch last Wednesday at the Blue Gum Cafe which went off very well. We had a secret Santa and also a raffle Christmas tree donated by Vision Impaired bowlers.
On Saturday we had our presentation night with the men bowlers at the Country Club and we were sad to hear that one of our past members, Judy Padgen's husband Tony, passed away so in tribute all our lady members stood on the stage drink in hand in remembrance.

Macksville Men
The recent Macksville Open Day was sponsored by Barry McDonald.
Visiting golfers travelled from Coffs Harbour, Dorrigo, Urunga, Bowraville, Frederickton and as usual a large contingent from Kempsey.
A capacity field made going slow with strong winds making scoring difficult. Allan Clarke played brilliant golf in the bluster to record a one under par round to be the overall winner of the day. Max Ward displayed good form to win the overall stableford event on a countback with 40 points.
A Grade gross winner went to J Benson with T Jones from Kempsey runner-up. B Grade winner was Don Forrester with Troy Grace runner-up on a countback. C Grade gross winner was Ron Trimble – no doubt showing his Kempsey mates how good a golfer he is. Runner-up was Roy Rudner.
A grade stableford winner was Gary Clarke with 39 points with Wayne McKay runner-up on a countback with 38 points. B Grade stableford winner was Fred Dickson with Greg Zirkler runner-up. C Grade stableford winner was Barry McDonald with 38 points with Carmel Freudenstein runner-up.
Nearest the pins on the 4th/13th hole went to A Grade Geoff O'Grady, no B Grader hit their target while Rhonda MCAuliffe took out the C Grade.
Other nearest the pins went to A Grade Allan Clarke, B Grade Don Forrester and Glenn Edwards won the C Grade.
Long drives went to A Grade T Jones, B Grade Clint Lavender and C Hosking won the C Grade.
Meanwhile, Robyn and Jim Wilkes generously sponsored hams and turkeys for Saturday's twoball aggregate stableford event at Macksville on Saturday.
A good field contested the event with two former members returning for a game from Cairns.
Barry McDonald and Don Forrester got out early and recorded an excellent score to chase. Unfortunately for the later starters gale force winds blew up making decent scoring very difficult. Barry and Don’s score held up all day and they took home the hams. Runners-up were Gus McKay and Steve Ellis who were heard wining they should have won the day if not for the wind affecting some of their putts. They took home turkeys for their trouble.
Front nine winners were Graham Vincent and Don Forrester who was a swinging partner. Back nine winners were Clinton and Beau Lavender.
Nearest the pins on the 4th/13th holes were A Grade Geoff O'Grady, B Grade Mingo and Steve Hosking won the C Grade.
Other nearest the pin shots went to A Grade Beau Lavender, B Grade Mingo and Shane Langley won the C Grade.
This Saturday's event will be a single stableford sponsored by Darren Pike and Makita Power Tools.
