Welcome to the weird world at Newee Creek in the geographical epicentre of the Nambucca Valley.
Guardian News Group Editor Christian Knight found this unlikely visitor perched on the door – and it’s a beauty.
The moth is large and long – and has ‘eyes’ on top of its head though they may be fake eyes to deter predators like birds.
“I’ve never seen anything like this one before, though we did have a massive moth arrive a few years back and it was identified as one normally found around the rainforests below Dorrigo, so it was rare for this part of the Mid North Coast,” Christian said.
