Sydney is in line for a possible dusting today, and the bureau is forecasting that the strong winds could potentially cause a dust issue here in the Nambucca either today or tomorrow.
Dust storms are most common when dry conditions and strong winds come together.
"We've got very dry topsoil and a lot of loose dust around and there were a lot of thunderstorms that moved across western NSW and with those thunderstorms you can get pretty gusty conditions which have whipped up that loose dust," Weatherzone meteorologist Tom Hough said.
The bureau has also issued an alert warning of a range of wild weather events possible today.
A cold front and series of troughs will move through New South Wales over the next day or two, bringing windy and unsettled conditions to most districts. The deepening of a low pressure system near Tasmania during Thursday and Friday is expected to reinforce winds in some areas, increasing the likelihood of raised dust being transported across the region.

Aside from the raised dust, severe thunderstorms are possible for northern and southern parts of NSW and the ACT, it said in a statement.
Despite the brief shift to cooler temperatures, the ongoing parched conditions across much of the state means bushfire risks will also be elevated in coming days.
Our area is on a ‘Very High’ fire danger alert for today and tomorrow.
