Paul Gallagher, Assistant General Manager Engineering Services, said the bridge was currently a one lane bridge under traffic light control with a 20 tonne load limit.
“As previously advised appropriate signage advising of the bridge closure will be erected at the following designated intersections:
Wirrimbi Road and Rodeo Drive
Valla Road and Newee Creek Road
Giinagay Way and Ferry Street
Wilson Road and Coronation Road
Bellingen Road and Rodeo Drive
High Street and Cook Street
“There is an alternative route to and from Bowraville via Wilsons Road and road closure information will also be provided via Media Releases, the MyRoadInfo and Lanes Bridge portal on Council’s website and an email alert to those who have already registered as interested parties,” Mr Gallagher said.
The council further advises that in the case of:
EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY
Should emergency vehicles need to obtain access, delays of up to 20-30 minutes can be expected at any one time to ensure the site is safe for access.
BUS COMPANIES
Council suggests that alternative pick up / drop off routes should be planned for scheduled bus services commencing Monday, December 10 until Friday, December 15 inclusive, as firm times for closures cannot be provided. There will be NO pedestrian access across Lanes Bridge during the closures.
EDUCATION FACILITIES
Council would appreciate parents being advised of these planned traffic delays which could affect school drop off and pick up times.
DOMESTIC WASTE SERVICES
Should this impact the timetable for the domestic waste service collection route, please notify Council’s Civic Services Coordinator, Simon Chapman, and residents accordingly.
