Paul O’Neill reports – winners last Thursday were Ron Gleeson and Garry Towner who enjoyed a solid 22-8 win over Andy DalSanto and Greg Kirkham. Runners-up were Ken McKelvie, Chris Dawson and Chris D’elboux who were too good for Roy Tape, Tracey Armes and Bo McKay. Jackpot not won so get ya names in by 12.30 this arvo for a lash at nearly $300 and great prizes.
Saturday saw a good win to Lawrie Medbury, Pat Clough, Chris Dawson and Graham Allen over Ron Gleeson, Steve Wellington, Tracey Armes and Dean Roe in the Mixed Fours. And Sharyn Hay, Greg Kirkham and Greg Doolan were victorious over Gavin Gallop, Bob Mackay and June Summers in the Mixed Triples.
On Sunday Janine Fletcher, Steve Johnson and Dean Roe got the result against Moira Welch, Andy DalSanto and Gino Vitagliani in Mixed Triples also. Go Bowra!
Macksville Women
Thelma Scott reports – last Wednesday we had the consistency final with Fiona Medley defeating Gail Griffiths in an exciting game with president Carol as the marker. That was the last of our championships for the year.
We also had a Social game of Triples with Thelma Scott, Kaye Wood and Karen Liddell defeating Ruth Flarrety, Barbara McBride and Donna Soyka. The trophy winner was Thelma Scott.
We also had the pleasure of being asked to march in the Remembrance Day Celebrations on Sunday – there only six of us could attend but it was an honour.
Macksville Men
Doug Smith reports – Thursday jackpot bowls results were determined by the highest aggregate with a pairs game of Ross Patmore and Ken Ainsworth Jnr the winners from Jye McAuliffe, Peter Fox Jnr and Mike Hardinge. The jackpot of $93 was not won.
The first of the semi-finals of the Mixed Pairs Championships was played this week when Fiona Medley and Scott Salter defeated Karen and Brent Liddell 27/15.

On Saturday November 24, Christmas Bowls, a mixed event, will be played. Names in by 12.15pm for bowls at 1 o’clock. Prizes donated by Joe and Shirley from the Macksville Newsagency.
Nambucca Heads Men
Fred Pope reports – last Wednesday’s Club Selected Mixed Triples attracted a field of 22. The $15 winners were Ali Kyle, Stuart Garvey and Tony Stokes. Second place $10 winners were Bill Coughlan, Roger McGuigan and Geoff Hartmann. Third prize $5 winners were Warren Lean, Garry Connors and Syd Campton. Lucky losers’ $5 prize went to Corrin Nouws, Ray Long and Peter Dawe. Lucky bowler was Maurie Roberts. The jackpot of $210 was not won.
Friday’s Nominated Men’s Triples attracted 66 bowlers. The $15 first prize winners were Mino Bettanin, Harry Rauchenberger and Cec Smith. Second place $10 winners were Frank Wesley, Neil Pollard and Peter Meehan. Third place $10 prize winners were Danny Curran, Peter McRitchie and John Hogarth. The lucky losers’ $10 prize went to Jack Young, Brian Bevan and Tony Stokes. The $15 lucky bowler was Garry Mitchell. The Jackpot of $300 was not won.
Men’s Minor Singles Club Championships quarter-finals: M Bettanin (31) defeated T Steele (26). M Blackford (31) defeated T Snowden (17). F Pope (31) defeated A Overton (19).O Smith (31) defeated B Stephens (17).
Semi-finals: O Smith (31) defeated F Pope (23). The other semi-final between M Bettanin and M Blackford will be played mid week.
The final will be played on Saturday.
Urunga Women
Pat Chapman reports – the yearly bowls program is quickly winding down with only the Consistency and Bradley Tray to be finalised and we can look forward to the Mixed Presentation Day on Saturday and the women's Christmas party on Thursday December 6.
On Saturday there will be a game of social bowls in the morning starting at 10 o’clock and finishing at about 12.30 (no cost to members) followed by a barbecue lunch from 1pm at a cost of $5. If those attending can bring along a dessert to share that would be appreciated. Following lunch the annual presentations for men, women and mixed championships and competitions will take place. To help with arrangements please put your names on the sheet for bowls and/or lunch ASAP.
The sheet is also on the board for the women's Christmas party on December 6 which will be a cost of $15 for lunch. Bowls can be played prior (green fees $8) and the general meeting has been rescheduled and will be held at approximately 12.30pm, just before lunch.
The Bradley tray which commemorates UWBC's first treasurer Jean Bradley will be played next Tuesday November 20 and teams will be club selected.
Consistency results: Shirley Willis defeated Helen Hoffman 150/115, Kath McPhail defeated Jo Bathgate 150/77.
Long-time member, Jean Connor, will be leaving the district in the near future to take up a new life in Mudgee where she will be close to her family. Jean and her husband transferred from Bellingen to Urunga in 1993 and during her time with our club she has made a valuable contribution to its administration. Many of her bowling friends gathered for lunch last Thursday to farewell Jean and to wish her health and happiness in her new home.
Jean leaves with community and State honours having been nominated by the aged care facility Coffs Haven for the prestigious award of Excellence in the category of Volunteers. Jean was delighted to be the successful recipient of this award at function in Sydney recently.
Following her success in winning the State Singles title, Sawtell bowler Judy Monks was selected to play for NSW Country against NSW City at Soldiers Point in Sydney recently and has also been selected to play for NSW at the Australian Championships in 2019. All her Mid North Coast bowling friends are delighted at this recognition for Judy and her Urunga friends send her their heartiest congratulations.

Colin Cutt reports – last Tuesday, 87 golfers competed at Coffs Harbour in a single stableford, in conjunction with the third round of the MNCVGA championship.
Stableford results: A grade: Winner Tony Failes 38, 1st runner-up Steve McNeil 36, 2nd runner-up Bruce Connell 35 c/b, 3rd runner-up Bruce Wallace 35.
B grade: Winner Paul Bonventi 39 c/b, 1st runner-up Clive Friedman 39, 2nd runner-up Ray Lopez 38, 3rd runner-up Colin Hoskins 37 c/b.
C grade: Winner Rob Avery 41, 1st runner-up Chris Kelleher 39, 2nd runner-up Louise Knight 38, 3rd runner-up Robert Alexander 37 c/b.

Jen Forne reports – last Wednesday’s stableford had 36 starters with Glenys Thompson from A grade the overall winner with 36 points on a countback from Angela Paton who won B Grade. Kay McGoldrick was A grade runner-up on 31 and Heather Gray B grade runner-up on 32. C Grade winner was Gwen Maxwell 34 on a countback from Dianne Hopkins. Ball run went to 30 points.
Nearest the pin on the 5th won by Kerry Shearer, pizza 13th won by Leanne Welsh and pro pin 18th won by Rhonda Kirk. Next week is the Medal of Medals play-off.
