The carnival has just got underway after the old Pacific Highway was temporarily closed for the traditional street parade of floats down Wallace St and into Macksville Park – Gift Central for the racing to follow.
The motorised procession featured classic and vintage cars, Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service trucks, a walking group, the local band, and some beaming young girls entered in the Macksville Princess competition.
This afternoon’s program will feature near non-stop action over a variety of distances, with the racing of the finals – replete with fireworks – scheduled for early evening.
Food, drinks and a variety of other entertainments are available on site and it is free entry – so head along for a beaut afternoon and the rare chance to see some of the nation’s top tier sprinters.
