Painted Blue began with founders Daniel Klingsporn and Charelle Harkins wanting to supply the local community with great coffee.
“We just wanted to supply really good coffee for anyone at anytime.”
Blue Sparrow Coffee, located in Denver Colorado, contacted the Painted Blue team earlier this year and asked for samples of their coffee to feature in their cafe.
“We try and have a lot of engagement on our Instagram page and showcase our product, and this is how Blue Sparrow found us, through using the same hashtags of ‘blue’ and ‘coffee’,” Ms Harkins said.
“The cafe is in the hipster arts district of Denver and being able to showcase our product there has been really amazing,” Ms Harkins said.
Last year, one month after opening, the duo won a bronze medal at the Golden Bean Coffee Roasters Competition held in Port Macquarie.
“We really entered the competition to get some feedback on our product and we ended up taking out the bronze medal,” Ms Harkins said.

Painted Blue will also be putting their hand up for the competition again this year, the Golden Bean Coffee Roasters Competition will begin later this month on November 21 in Port Macquarie.
“This year we want to get more feedback about our coffee from local people, because that’s who we’re wanting to supply good quality coffee to.”
Painted Blue supply five varieties of beans, and are featured in a number of cafes in the Macleay Valley.
“The primary focus of the business is to supply good quality, available coffee beans to the local community,” Ms Harkins said.
The coffee beans sourced for Painted Blue come from Central America, South America and East Africa.
“The coffee is very tasty and getting this confidence boost of having our product featured internationally has pushed us to continue our dream,” Ms Harkins said.
