It was Melbourne Cup with all the trimmings at the Heads last year.
Patrons were pampered with seafood and champagne while they watched the ‘race that stops a nation’ at the Nambucca Heads RSL Club.
And it wasn’t just locals in attendance—the deluxe do attracted people from as far as Harrington, Kempsey, Sydney and Brisbane.
One table from Sydney and Brisbane make the Nambucca Heads Melbourne Cup an annual event, meeting half-way between.
“I’m from out of town and I’m having the most marvellous time,” Marie Turner, from Townsville, said.
The ladies were dressed to kill, with around 30 catwalk queens strutting their stuff for the ‘fashions on the field’ competition.
Belinda Stanford-Thomas took out the fashionista top prize, with Fay Ledger—looking every bit the stuff of legends—coming in a close second.
The winner in the men’s division, a Mr Rob Green, looked the dapper gentleman in a classic tuxedo, with runner-up Norm Sims proving that a stylish hat will take you far.
MORE MELBOURNE CUP:
The race that everyone came to see saw Rekindling take the glory after starting the race at $15 odds.
