The time is ripe for another knees-up in Bowraville, and where better than the Hotel’s grand balcony for a sequinned soiree.
This year is an Abba/disco-fever themed event that promises to get you up on your platforms for a shuffle.
It’s been a year since the last Rainbow Ball and Miss Coco Canal is eager to get the tribes together again.
“This is all about having fun, and being inclusive. We’d especially like to extend a warm welcome to the Indigenous community,” she said.
“It’s also about raising money for the Bowraville Arts Council.
“And with the bypass, there’s a real need to reinvent ourselves and stand out. The theatre is a big drawcard here, and it’s important to protect it and fund it so it doesn’t slip away from us.
“There’s such a big opportunity here for the township to grow if we play to our advantages.
“And what is really needed are some state-of-the-art dressing rooms. In order to attract international acts we need quality facilities.”
DJ Lisa Farraway will be womanning the decks, and there’ll be the usual floor shows, and, as always, the possibility of some spontaneous shenanigans.
There’ll be great food and drinks for purchase at the pub, which is generously donating the space for free.
But feel free to bring your own nibblies too.
There’ll be prizes for best dressed, so make sure you get your frock on.
Tickets are $20 and are available for purchase from Let’s Talk Hair or the theatre in Bowraville, Helloworld in Nambucca, or Lucy Fru Fru in Macksville.
Event starts from 7.30pm, this Saturday: be there or be square!
