This Sunday, Bowraville’s Pioneer Community Centre will be the venue for the Bowra Regional Writers’ Expo … that market place of local and regional authors who are bringing their works to you!
There will be 18 authors presenting works from a variety of genres, everything from murder mysteries to rural romances, entertaining stories and quite a range of children’s books.
Featured authors include Alison Buckley, Andrew Kepitis-Andrews, Desley Polmear, Greg Barron, Kim Hodges, Maggie Young, Malcolm McFarlane, Pat Richardson OAM, R L Aiken, Rob Turnell, Tamara McWilliam, Andrew Holt, Glenda Frances, Joanna Becker, Joy Le Cerf, Lucy Van Sambeek, and Susie Peake.
This is an excellent opportunity to get yourself some holiday reading material, gifts for the festive season, meet and support local authors.
A free event, there is no entry fee or charge for workshops, however whatever you spend on raffles, sale of second hand books and food goes to support the centre itself.
New this year is songwriting, with two songwriting workshops presented by Snez & Stewart, for beginners and intermediate level.
Other workshops are ‘Introduction to Gumbayngirr Language’ by Muurrbay Language Centre, ‘How to Write your Memoir’ with Kim Hodges, ‘The Middle East: a Kurdish View’ presented by Alison Buckley, ‘Using Facts to Write Fiction’ from Greg Barron, and ‘Writing Murder Mysteries’ with Desley Polmear.
There will be a panel presentation: ‘Back to Basics: How Do I Start Writing a Book?’ from 1.30pm.
An additional venue is the upstairs verandah of the Bowra Hotel with a reading of an excerpt from ‘Isabella The Play’ and the book written by Maggie Young as well as songs and poems from Sunshine Suzie plus songs with Snez and Stewart.
Anyone wanting to read from their books or to recite poetry is welcome – please contact Marion Syratt on 6564 7908 or 0400 828 471 to register. More on Facebook: Bowra Regional Writers’ Expo 2018.
