Today should hopefully be the start of a (somewhat) smoother ride into Nambucca Heads after a month or more of dust and stone chips on Mann St come to an end.

With the road now levelled and widened, work is now ready to start on laying the primer seal.
“We are only doing the primer seal today (weather permitting) which will weather-proof the pavement and get rid of the dust caused by the gravel pavement,” council’s assistant general manager engineering services Paul Gallagher said.
But after the primer is laid, work will need to cease again for another couple of months. The reason for this is the recycled waste ‘Plastiphalt’ material that is planned for trial on the street needs the hotter Summer weather, and work is still ongoing on modifying the Downer Group’s Lismore plant to produce the Plastiphalt for us.
Council is planning to put the Plastiphalt blacktop on just before Christmas, but that of course is largely dependent on whether Downer Group can produce the goods in time.
Mr Gallagher said the final seal could be pushed into late January.
“[For now] the road will basically be sealed using the primer seal to make it OK for the up and coming holiday period,” he said.
