Mick Ellem weighed in with whiting, bream and flathead and won himself the Mystery Prize with his whiting walking away with $40 for that and first place for his flathead. So a nice little kick along for one of our newest members. Something for everyone to think about and show the newcomer how it’s done?
Mark Strevens, Dan Clowe and Luke Clowe also weighed in some nice flathead but not quite enough to take it away from Mick.
And look out folks – the Bass Assassin aka Dave Whalen – is off and running for the season with five fish submitted up to 45cm. Luke Clowe came in second but could only muster up two up to 35cm. Time to show Dave how it’s done people.
The Mystery Fish is now back to $20 and the members’ draw is up to $60 – must be in attendance to claim this one.
The competition for this month is this weekend (October 26-28) with the target species being snapper and whiting, with a free barbecue to follow at the tavern – sponsored by Group 1 Distributors. Weigh-in is 12pm-1pm with members’ draw at 1 o’clock.
A raffle for a smoker is now up for grabs – check the club’s Facebook page or buy tickets from the Valla Beach Tavern, Valla Butchers, Davis Seafoods, Nambucca Boatshed and The Bridge Café in Macksville.
Anyone interested in joining the fishing club is welcome to come along and see what it’s all about at this weekend’s barbecue.
