Tomorrow, Thursday, the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP) will consider the first of the industrial developments for the Valla Growth Area (VUGA).
It is a six lot industrial subdivision by Jed Civil and will include a new public road.
The site is owned by Nambucca Shire Council and due to the Capital Investment Value being more than $5 million and therefore Regionally Significant, the determination is made by the JRPP.
At their council meeting last Thursday councillors voted to accept the report and the recommended conditions.
All except Cr David Jones, who said the council was in no financial position to press ahead with VUGA.
“While I agree industrial land is needed, this is not the place – it will have a negative impact on the visuals at the entrance to Nambucca Heads,” Cr Jones said.
“I can’t see how we can juggle this large development and meet our other responsibilities, and most importantly, I do not believe the community is up to speed about this development.”
Cr Anne Smyth said she also felt the community was not well informed.
Cr Rhonda Hoban said the development application was on public exhibition for months without a single submission.
“It has been talked about for the last 20 years and on public exhibition at numerous times,” she said.
Cr John Ainsworth said a name was needed as a matter of urgency.
