On Friday night, at about 7:30, a 39-year-old woman was the victim of an alleged violent domestic assault by a 37-year-old man in Bowraville. The woman was allegedly threatened with a knife, choked and assaulted before she was able to escape in a car and alert police.

The following afternoon police saw the man and arrested him without incident with the assistance of a Police Dog Unit. Following his arrest, police seized two knives from his person. He was charged at Macksville Police Station with a number of offences and is currently bail refused to appear before Kempsey Local Court on December 19. The woman sustained head injuries and red marks on her neck and was treated at Macksville Hospital.
Breach of bail
Police were alerted to a 19-year-old man acting aggressively at a residence in Macksville in the early hours of Sunday morning. In breach of bail, he became violent when police attempted his arrest. He was subdued with capsicum spray and taken to Macksville Police Station where he was decontaminated by ambulance officers. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the incident. The man is currently on bail to appear before Macksville Local Court today charged with two counts of assault/resist officer.
