Thelma Scott reports – we had a social fours game with Barbara McBride as swinging lead and she and Joan Hosking, Louise Scharma and Janet Poletti defeated Barbara McBride, Ruth Flarrety, Karen Liddell and Gail Griffiths. There will be no social bowls next Wednesday owing to the fact that majority of our players will be going to Park Beach for the Westpac Helicopter Letter Charity Day as it will be the very last Mid North Coast Helicopter Charity Day being held.

Gary Bishop reports – last weekend two teams went to Kempsey Heights for the Rookies Pairs – Paul Martin teaming up with Ben Kenay and Wayne Harris leading for Tony Henshaw. Both teams were in separate sections of three and, in both cases, the sectional result was the same – each team in the section won one game each. A countback on for/against margins saw Paul and Ben bow out by a single point and Wayne and Tony drawing with Woolgoolga at +3 points nett margin. A further countback on ends revealed that Woolgoolga scored 12 ends in their two games while Wayne and Tony won 11 ends in theirs. It can't get much closer. Well done to our rookies.
Rink winners for Wednesday October 10 were R Shorter, G Bishop and J Hewson.
Urunga Women
Pat Chapman reports – last week the annual Mid North Coast District Under 5s event was played at C.ex Coffs Harbour with 20 bowlers – every club in the district was represented. Since this fixture's inauguration in 2010 Urunga bowlers have won the event three times - Shirley Willis 2014, Janine Brown 2015, and Helen Hoffman 2017. Now it's congratulations from all her bowling friends to Ros Hancock who has kept the tradition alive by winning in 2018.
The Urunga club was represented by seven bowlers, all of whom performed well and were a credit to their club. Ros Hancock who has been playing for only the last couple of years survived five matches to advance to a tough final match against Pam Hughes of C.ex who had the advantage of her home green.
Trailing in the mid parts of the game but, quiet achiever that she is, Ros played inspired bowls and picked up her score to level it going into the last end at 23-all when she brilliantly placed two bowls on the jack. Pam tried unsuccessfully to dislodge the bowls and Ros emerged the winner 25 to 23.
