A section of Riverside Drive, Nambucca Heads between Woodbell Street and Bellwood Drive would be closed to traffic for a period of up to three weeks while works are in progress.
Paul Gallagher, Assistant General Manager Engineering Services said the works were necessary after a small landslip occurred during a storm event in March 2017.
“We engaged Coffey Geotechnics Pty Ltd to investigate the site and present a remediation proposal. The contract was awarded to Pan Civil Pty Ltd in July.
“The proposed works include the installation of soil nails and steel mesh which will be installed over the face of the embankment,” Mr Gallagher said.
“This will involve the removal of small lower storey vegetation (up to 100mm in diameter) however the larger trees forming the upper canopy will be retained and in time the lower storey vegetation will regrow through the steel mesh.”
A detour around the site via Woodbell Street and Bellwood Drive will be in place. Council apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused while the works are in progress.
