Police are currently investigating an incident of product contamination after a sewing needle was found in a pink lady apple purchased from the Macksville Woolworths last week.
The apple is believed to have been purchased on Monday, September 17, or Tuesday, September 18.
Noone was injured during the discovery.
The matter has now been referred on to the State Crime Command Robbery Squad.
Trouser meat
A man was charged with shoplifting after police allegedly seized two packets of meat and two knives stuffed down the man’s trousers.
Police said they were alerted by staff from a Nambucca Heads supermarket on Saturday evening to a man acting suspiciously in store.
The man was later charged at Macksville Police Station for having knives in a public place and for shoplifting.
He was released on bail to appear before Macksville Local Court on November 8.
Grievous bodily harm
A 19-year-old man was arrested in Macksville for causing grievous bodily harm.
Police said a 29-year-old man was assaulted on River St, Macksville, in the very early hours of Sunday morning.
He was taken to Coff Harbour Hospital with head injuries.
The 19-year-old man was released on bail and will attend Macksville Local Court on October 18.
Possession of drugs, stolen items
Yesterday police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly being in possession of stolen property and a small quantity of illicit drugs.
Police said it was the second time they had to stop and talk to the man along Riverside Drive that morning.
He was charged at Macksville Police Station and was refused bail to appear before Kempsey Local Court on September 28.
