“I am pleased to advise that the construction of the bridge is now scheduled to commence on Monday, October 8, weather permitting,” Mayor Rhonda Hoban said.
“The existing Lanes Bridge, Rodeo Drive, Bowraville is over 90 years old and is one of the Shire’s oldest timber bridge structures. Its replacement has been brought forward by three years as Council’s financial contribution has been supplemented by State and Federal grant funds for which we are very grateful.”
Assistant general manager engineering services Paul Gallagher said anyone interested in following the progress of the bridge build on the Nambucca Shire Council website by searching for Lanes Bridge.
Lanes Bridge project manager Matthew Leibrandt, said there will be times during the construction when a full closure of the bridge is needed.
During those times, signage will be placed at the following intersections to notify drivers:
- Wirrimbi Road and Rodeo Drive
- Valla Road and Newee Creek Road
- Giinagay Way and Ferry Street
- Wilson Road and Coronation Road
- Bellingen Road and Rodeo Drive
- High Street and Cook Street
“Road closure information will also be provided via media releases, the MyRoadInfo portal on Council’s website and an email alert to interested parties,” Mr Gallagher said.
