The Men’s section was the only weigh-in category for the month, with Dan Clowe taking out the tailor with a 56cm catch. Mick also won with his 31cm bream and a nice 52cm tailor. Luke Clowe also weighed in a tailor and a bream, while Mark Strevens came in with a nice tailor and Frog caught a 45cm flathead.
The bass season is open and a few good fish have been caught around the valley.
The Copmanhurst Wild River Bass Classic was held this month and the club was well represented by Dean Holmes and Dave Whalen (team name The Double Ds), and Dan and Luke Clowe (The Valla Bassassins). The guys found it hard fishing with Deano boating the best fish out of the two teams.
The Mystery Fish and Members’ Draw did not go off so each now jackpots to $40 for the next comp which will be this weekend (September 28-30). Target species will be pearl perch and flathead and weigh in is noon-1pm with a barbecue (thank you to Valla Beach Butchers) to follow.
The barbecue will be free and new membership inquiries are welcome (the bistro is closed so there is easy access to the children’s playground).
Inquiries to Dan Clowe 0400 425-974 or Wendy Streatfield 0448 459-373.
