Sawtell is chasing their third straight U18 title, and they’ll have plenty of support on the sidelines with their League-Tag and Reserve grade sides also taking a tilt at victory today.
But our U18 lads have proven themselves to be a formidable force; a large cohort of the team already have the taste of success on their lips after graduating from last year’s premier U16 Bowra Tigers.
Can they do it? Only time will tell...

The conditions didn’t suit the Macksville game – they like to move the ball around and they made a few mistakes early on that put them under pressure.
Sawtell scored first, their front rower barged over close to the posts. And it was converted.
Macksville’s Lleyton Doolan offloaded a lovely ball to Logan Jones who sprinted away from defence to score in the corner.
Score: 6-4 to Sawtell.
Goal line defence kept Macksville in the game after a lot of little errors caused by the rain.

Macksville controlled the footy better after half-time, got into a good position.
In a similar move to the first try, Logan Jones scores in the corner again. And a great sideline conversion from Mitchell Morrison put Macksville in the lead for the first time this game; 10-6.
Macksville found themselves down on the Coffs line shortly after and Mitchell Morrison crossed over wide out for Macksville’s third of the game.
Doolan took the conversion, bringing it to 16-6.
A Macksville player was sent off for lifting in the tackle and shortly after a Sawtell player was sinbinned for 10 minutes.
It was a real armwrestle from then on with Sawtell giving themselves a glimpse – scoring in the corner and converting with about three minutes out.
At nearly full time Macksville are leading 16-12.
