The ladies’ section was taken out by Elaine Sheppard, once again, showing us why she is the current champion – weighing in a whiting (and claiming the $20 Mystery Fish prize) and a dart for points.
The men’s section was won by new member, Mick Ellem – welcome to the club, Mick. Mick’s 602g bream was more than good enough on the day. Dan Clowe came in first in the snapper part of the show, bagging a 670g fish, both followed closely, by Dave Whalen with his bream and tailor, and a nice bream weighed in by Dean Holmes. Great start to the points tally for this year, guys!
We were sorry to see no weigh-ins for the minnows or juniors.
The next comp will be held on the weekend of August 24-26 (supported by Tile Wizards Coffs Harbour), with target species being tailor and whiting. Weigh in is from 12 until 1pm on the Sunday with free barbecue and presentation of prizes straight after.
There’s still time to get tickets for our great Fathers’ Day raffle, drawn on Fathers’ Day and valued at around $450. Tickets are available from Davis Seafoods, Boatshed Café, Valla Beach Butchers and Valla Tavern.
