There’d already been over $200,000 raised in NSW by yesterday afternoon for the Commbank drought relief fundraiser, but you can add at least another $3000 to that figure after the Nambucca Nashos threw their hat into the ring.
At last month’s meeting, the Nashos decided to put up $1500 out of their kitty to help out the drought-stricken families out west.
But after supremely successful sizzles at Woolworths and the V-Dubs Show and Shine, the Valley’s favourite barbecuers added another $1500 to that total, which they donated today to the Commbank’s appeal.
“This drought is going to affect us all in the long run,” Nashos president Don McKenzie said.
“If they lose all those stock, it’s gonna take years to regenerate the industry. And we’re only too happy to help.”
“Plus we do alright here for such a small place,” Nasho John Eather said.
The Nashos were out in force again today at the front of the bank and whatever money raised from today’s sizzle, and the raffle of Fay Wilson’s beautifully-crocheted blanket, will be going straight out west too.
The Nambucca Heads Commonwealth Bank branch will continue collecting money throughout the month for the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners.
