While it’s not record-breaking (the hottest recorded day in August in the Valley peaked at 31.5 degrees celsius in 2009), it is the hottest day this month so far and is certainly proving to be a jarring transition from the chilly morning the region experienced on Monday.
And this month is shaping up to be one of the hottest average months on record if this heat spell continues.
The hottest August on record in the Valley was again in 2009, with a monthly average temperature of 22.6 degrees.
The first two weeks of this month so far has us sitting on an average of 21.6 degrees.
